ladyliberty: (Julie I am home now)

Amelia looked herself over in the hall mirror one final time, straightening her tie and running a hand through her hair. Satisfied, she gave herself a saucy wink.

"Yeah, I'd do me."

Turning around, she leaned over the bannister and called up the stairs toward the bedroom. "Julie? You almost ready?"

Alfred sat in the armchair by the window, sipping from a near-empty coffee mug, a copy of The Daily Prophet spread out in his lap. He'd skimmed over a couple of the articles, but he'd largely given up the pretense of reading it; he was watching the apartment door.

It wasn't like he needed Lili to be around all the time, or anything. They both had their own lives and all. But the wee hours of the morning seemed like one of those times that probably should be reserved for cuddling in bed with your significant other, not wondering where she was and what she might have gotten herself up to this time.

Normally, America, being a finely turned-out city boy, would not be found in the middle of the woods in the middle of the night, and especially not in the wilds of Canada. The forests there were full of creatures wilder than his own. But he'd called up Canada's main home earlier, only to be told (by someone rather irritated at being woken up at such an hour) that she was out. So he'd decided to ignore the creepy-crawlies for tonight and make his way to her cottage, because he needed to talk to someone. And not someone in the news media, either.

He found the house eventually, heading around to what he knew to be her bedroom window, and was surprised to find it open. He knocked twice on the window frame before going ahead and letting himself in, climbing in and calling softly into the darkness.

"Maggie? You awake?"
ladyliberty: (Boring. You're boring me.)

Amelia yawned and stretched, refusing to open her eyes just yet. She didn't know exactly what time it was, but she did know that Matthew's bed was soft, his pillows were fluffy, and she would be content to curl up there and doze forever. Or at least until he came back and wanted to do something fun again. With a contented sigh, she rolled over, snatching the pillow from Matthew's side of the bed and curling herself around it, burying her face into the softness and inhaling his scent.

"So um, Jules? I think we need to talk."
ladyliberty: (Is that all of it?)

[Amelia laughs despite herself, because somehow on Ellis, utter failure is endearing. And anyway, she's had worse kisses.]

Haven't kissed a lot of girls before, huh buddy?
